Pun alert: You want to stump your friends? Ask them to guess how many trees there are in the world. Even our resident factologist, Sean McVeigh, might find it amazing that the world has, get ready, 3.04 trillion. We sent out a team to double check this but we have not heard back so we’re just going with the Google.

Of course, after Mayor de Blasio said the city would fully reopen by July 1, Governor Cuomo had to one-up him and went and declared that most things, including the 24 hour subway, would reopen much sooner and now it seems May 19 is the day things go full steam ahead. In any case, the reopening gives some hope for the annual Irish Festival held by AOH Division 21. Last year's event was canceled due to Covid. The usual June date is a little too soon for it go on, but there is some good news. There are plans in the works to hold the festival in late summer. AOH is looking at bringing back the festival to the St. Camillus lot over the September 11 weekend. Let's hope the luck of the Irish is on their side!

Don’t shoot, we’re just the messenger. The Department of Design and Construction (DDC) says roadwork on Beach Channel Drive in Rockaway Park will be completed before Memorial Day. They didn’t say which Memorial Day.
