Keep Lifeguards  Later

Dear Editor:

Any chance you can suggest to the Parks Dept to maybe alternate the hours some lifeguards work? It makes sense to have some remain on the beach until at least 8 o’clock, especially on days like yesterday when the beaches are still really crowded at 6 o’clock when the lifeguards go home.

Also since most drownings occur after 6 p.m. when the lifeguards leave, this would help reduce those heartbreaking scenarios especially when the surf is really rough.

The City and the Parks Dept need to have a better plan to help protect beach goers! Thank you once again for your time and platform!
