What happened to “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it?” The NYC Parks Department has been doing a spring spruce up. The flowers around the welcome sign at Beach 108th Street and Shore Front Parkway are looking great, but notice something different? The “Welcome to Rockaway Beach” sign was replaced. The wooden wavy sign that had survived Hurricane Sandy is gone and has been replaced with a more generic sign that look more like something you’d find at a subway station. Why? Were the community board or local civics informed of this change? Where did the old sign go? Parks?
