Get ready to ROCK! AWAY! The Beach 97th concession will be the place to be this weekend with a three-day music extravaganza.
The ROCK! AWAY! Music Fest has been rebranded as the ROCK! AWAY! Summer Fest. Max Power’s ROCK! AWAY! has been everywhere from the former Playland Motel, to the Rockaway Brewery, Riis Park and up to 25 venues across the peninsula since the music fest launched in 2017. With last year’s event cancelled due to the pandemic, Power has taken the time to rebrand for the relaunch.
“With the pause from Covid, our 2020 was a major pivot and we quickly had to throw ourselves into the streaming realm and learn how to swim. As things were still uncertain with reopening this year we have rebranded as ROCK! AWAY! Summer Fest and are working on a new website and platform to feature the whole peninsula once again,” Power said. There are also plans for an offseason ROCK! AWAY! Music Fest in Riis Park if the National Park Service allows in October.
In the meantime, the action will take place this weekend at the Beach 97th concession from Friday, July 16 through Sunday, July 18. The show starts at 4:45 p.m. each day. Here’s the expected lineup:
