The New York Independent Redistricting Commission is tasked with devising new state legislative and congressional districts after the 2020 Census saw a decrease in population, meaning one less congressional representative in NY. As of now, the Commission is split and three separate congressional maps for Rockaway are under consideration. Please see the photos included here.
These maps and others are viewable at: www.nyirc.gov/home .

The Rockaway Times’ position is that the peninsula should be one Congressional District. One plan currently has the peninsula being divided at Beach 130th Street. Most of that district would be in Brooklyn. Another puts Far Rockaway with parts of Nassau County.BLOG COMMENTS POWERED BY DISQUS
