Misplaced Mercedes

A car in the ocean is not something you see every day, but it was news that barely made a splash last weekend. It likely went unnoticed by many as the car was removed before the beaches opened, but some did notice the odd sight.

At around 5 a.m. on Saturday, July 30, someone called 911 to report the vehicle in the ocean. Police responded for a water rescue and noticed the car in the water. According to the NYPD, the 911 caller had stated that they saw two unknown males and one unknown female flee on foot in an unknown direction. There were no reported injuries. The vehicle, a Mercedes Benz with Pennsylvania plates, was towed and invoiced. It is not known if the vehicle was stolen or if any arrests were made.
