ROCK! AWAY! Summer Fest

All weekend long from Friday, July 16 through Sunday, June 18, there will be live music at the Beach 97th concession as part of Max Power’s ROCK! AWAY! Summer Fest. The fun starts at 4:45 p.m. each day. For the lineup, check out  


Thrilla at Camilla

The bouts are back! On Friday, July 16 at 6 p.m., head to St. Camillus (185 Beach 99th Street) to watch FDNY Boxing take on some worth opponents from the Massachusetts State Troopers, plus some homegrown grudge matches, all for a good cause. Proceeds benefit Building Homes for Heroes and the Matt McDevitt Children’s Education Fund. Tickets available at the gate or at 


Cristin Mullen Run

On Saturday, July 17 at 10 a.m., all are welcome to remember Cristin Mullen, a lifeguard, teacher and athlete who died unexpectedly last year, with something she loved—running. There will be a one-mile walk/run and a 5k race. Day of registration and after-party will take place at the St. Rose of Lima lot on Beach 84th Street. Proceeds benefit St. Rose. Yoga On the Beach w/ Sonia

Every Saturday at 10 a.m., under the gazebo on Beach 32nd Street, join Sonia for yoga practice combining meditation and movement. Bring sunscreen, yoga mat, water, towel, yoga blocks and yoga strap.


Yoga on the Beach

Kevin Campbell is back with yoga/human movement classes on Beach 104th Street at 8:30 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Head to the beach and get your om on.


Yoga by the Shore

Join Joann on the beach for Yoga postures, breathing practices, relaxation and meditation for all. Fridays at 9:30 a.m. in Riis Park Bay 12. Bring a towel or mat.


Zumba Under the Stars

Starting Thursday, July 15 and every Thursday through September, head to the Beach 108th hockey rink at 7:30 p.m. for Zumba with Lisa G. Enjoy this free dance workout.


Seaplane Ramp Kayaking

Every Saturday and Sunday at 9:30 a.m., head to the Seaplane Ramp at Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn for a free kayaking for beginners’ program. Ages 6 and up welcome. Kayaks and lifejackets provided. Dress to get wet.


Rockaway Running Club

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30 a.m., meet on the boardwalk at Beach 126th Street to join for a 3-mile run to Beach 97th Street and back. About 9/10 min mile pace but all levels welcome to run/jog or walk. For questions, reach out to @maegreed_  on Instagram.


Community Boathouse Paddles

The Community Boathouse on Beach 88th and the bay, is now open for scheduled paddles. Use of kayaks and equipment is free but registration is required. For a schedule and to reserve, head to: 


AmpSurf Adaptive Surf Clinics

AmpSurf’s season of offering surf lessons to amputees, those with special needs and more, has begun. Each series takes place at Beach 67th Street starting at 8:30 a.m. Dates include July 31 and August 14. There is a $50 refundable fee for each clinic if participant attends. Fort Tilden Hike

Every Sunday at 10:30 a.m., join a park ranger for a walking tour of Fort Tilden, highlighting the fort's role in the defense of New York City during the 20th Century. Call 718-338-3799 to reserve. Tour will be capped at 10 participants. Social distancing will be maintained.  Face mask required.
