Movies Under the Stars: Deep Blue Sea

On Thursday, September 16 at 7:15 p.m., bring a blanket or chair and head to the Beach 94th Street Plaza to watch Deep Blue Sea under the stars.

 

Mobile Fitness

On Saturday, September 18 at 9 a.m., join NYC Parks near the stage at Beach 17th Street for free fitness classes including spin and group exercise classes. Bring a water bottle!

 

Rockaway Irish Festival

The Rockaway Irish Festival is September 18 and 19. Head to St. Camillus (Beach 99th Street) between 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. both days for a day of live Irish music, vendors, performances and more.

 

International Coastal Cleanup

On Saturday, September 18, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Join RISE on Beach 59th Street and the boardwalk for the annual International Coastal Cleanup in partnership with the American Littoral Society. All ages welcome. All trash collected at this event will be entered into the national database, which goes to help establish legislation to reduce trash along our shores. Students can receive community service hours for their efforts.

 

Photography Exhibit: Hinterland by Susannah Ray

On Saturday, September 18, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rokaway Beach Blvd) for the opening reception of Susannah Ray's photography exhibit "Hinterland", documenting the remaining undeveloped acres of the Arverne Urban Renewal Area in Queens, the remnants of a seaside neighborhood that was razed in 1968 under New York City's urban renewal policies.

 

Jamaica Bay Pollinator/Monarch Festival

On Sunday, September 19, between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for fa day of fun and educational activities regarding butterflies and other pollinators. Full Corn Moon

On Monday, September 20 at 7 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and have a ranger guide you on a hike while learning about the full corn moon

 

Belle Harbor Property Owners Association

On Tuesday, September 21 at 7 p.m. at P.S. 114 (400 Beach 135th Street) the BHPOA will meet to discuss crime and public safety issues, especially decisions on which offenders get prosecuted and which offenses are not enforced by police. Dan Brown arranged for two Executive ADAs to participate.

 

Fall Equinox Walk

On Wednesday, September 22 at 6 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for a sunset walk to welcome the autumn season. Space will be limited, so register by calling 718-381-4340.
