BHYC Holiday Boutique

West End Temple Hanukkah Celebration

On Friday, December 3, West End Temple (147-02 Newport Ave) is holding a family service and latke dinner.  Bring a vegetarian side dish to share. Vaccination required and masks when not eating. RSVP by December 2 by calling 718-634-0301.

 

Broad Channel Crafters Fair

On Friday, December 3 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 4 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., head to the American Legion (209 Cross Bay Blvd) in Broad Channel to shop for homemade crafts, candy, cakes, etc. Raffles and 50-50. Kitchen will be Open. All proceeds benefit American Legion Veterans Programs.

 

SFDS Memorial Prayer Service

On Saturday, December 4 at 11 a.m., SFDS Bereavement Ministry invites anyone who has recently lost a loved one to join them for a Memorial Prayer Service in the Sacred Heart Chapel at SFDS. Light refreshments will be served after in Monsignor Reddy Hall. Members of the Ministry will be available to talk to if you have any questions.

 

Rockaway Beach Wetland Restoration

On Saturday, December 4 from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., head to Beach 56th Place and the boardwalk to volunteer with the Stewardship Team to protect wetland areas in Rockaway Beach. Volunteers will identify and safely remove invasive plants and debris. Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Exhibit Opening: The Painting Pavilion" by Renée Berthelette

On Saturday, December 4 at 4 p.m., head to the RISE Center (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd). Renée Berthelette debuts her solo exhibition. The opening will feature live music by the Keith Jordan Group. Each painting is inspired by a specific beach of the Rockaway peninsula and was created using rhythm-based paint application to the beat of local jazz musicians. Visitors are encouraged to bring headphones.

Little North Pole Lighting

On Sunday, December 5 starting at 3  p.m., Joe Mure hosts his annual ceremony to light up the grand Little North Pole (144-03 Newport Ave). Entertainment, food, toys and more!

 

Five Sense Exploration

On Monday, December 6 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and enjoy a gentle walk with a ranger as we experience the refuge through all five senses.  Reservations required, call 718-318-4340.
