Bay Breeze Park Cleanup
Due to rain last week, on Sunday, January 9 at 10 a.m., Rock Lean n Clean is hosting a cleanup at Bay Breeze Park on Beach 88th and the bay. The cleanup will last about an hour.

It’ll soon be time to toss the Christmas tree. NYC Parks is here to help repurpose your tree. Drop off your Christmas tree at any Mulchfest location during park hours through January 9. The local drop off is at Beach 94th Street and Shore Front Parkway.
Edgemere Community Visioning Forum #2
On Saturday, January 15 at 10 a.m. on Zoom, RISE will hold the second of three forums as part of the Edgemere Community Visioning Process to engage Edgemere residents and stakeholders in creating a Community Agreement for the use of nearly 60 vacant lots. On Saturdays, January 15 and 22 at 3 p.m., meet on Beach 81st and the boardwalk for PINE. Pine is an installation conceived out of necessity to mourn in a time of compiling obstacles. It is a magical beach forest of repurposed trashed holiday spirit built from former Xmas trees. This outdoor experience will facilitate public grieving, commemoration, and regeneration during the pandemic, despite freezing temperatures. Dress warm and bring a blanket or beach chair. In response to the McFadden family losing everything in an apartment fire at Dayton Towers, the LAOH and Rockaway Columbiettes are holding a drive for giftcards, new toiletries, home goods, towels, dishes, pillows, clothes for a girl (size 6-7) and more. Supplies can be dropped off at the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) on Sunday, January 9 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m.
