Team Sister Strong Fundraiser

On Saturday, January 29 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., head to RBQ on Beach 98th to help support the O’Sullivan family’s Team Sister Strong fundraiser for LLS. Joanne Smith and Suzanne Culleton will be behind the bar while The Locals play some tunes.  50/50 and more.


Park Trivia!

On Sunday, January 30 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a park ranger for some  Gateway and the National Park Service trivia. Whether you’re new to Gateway or an old pro, there will be prizes for all. Space will be limited, so register by calling (718) 318-4340. 


Breezy Point Wetlands Cleanup

On Sunday, February 6 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m., join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy, NYC Plover Project and Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato for a wetlands cleanup at the Breezy Point Tip. AMSEAS Virtual Marine Wildlife First Responder Training

On Wednesday, February 9 at 12 p.m. and at a second session at 6:30 p.m., RISE is offering a virtual marine wildlife first responder training.  Learn about what to do if you see a sick, injured or deceased seal, sea turtle, dolphin or whale on a beach in your neighborhood. AMSEAS biologists will discuss stranding responses and demonstrate some of the techniques, data collection procedures and proper protocol a first responder should follow when arriving on the scene of a stranded marine mammal or sea turtle. Valentine’s Day Half Marathon & 5K

Save the Date! On Saturday, February 12, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting a Valentine’s half marathon and 5K. Check in is at Rogers (205 Beach 116th Street) at 8 a.m. 5K starts on boardwalk at 9 a.m. on Beach 116th Street. The 5-k course is a 3.1-mile loop with start and finish on 116th street. The 1/2 marathon starts at 9:45 a.m. on the boardwalk. This course is 2 identical loops totaling 13.1 miles with ample water spots. Medals and T shirts for all participants. St. Patrick’s Parade Installation Gala

Save the Date! On Saturday, February 12 at 7 p.m., the Queens County St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee is hosting a gala at Antun’s in Queens Village for the installation of its honorees.
