Challege Charteer School is hosting Virtual Open Houses for the 2022-23 school year on Thursday, March 10 at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, March 12 at 10 a.m., and Thursday, March 17 at 5:30 p.m. Register at www.challengecharterschools.org/apply to receive a link to attend. St. Patrick’s
Half Marathon or 5K

The Rockaway Track Club is kicking off St. Patrick’s Day with a run on Saturday, March 12. Check in and the after party is at Rogers Pub (205 Beach 116th Street). Both the 5K and half marathon start at 9:30 a.m. on the Beach 116th Street boardwalk. Medals and t-shirts for all participants. Running gloves for the top 20. A free smoothie or Guinness for all runners. Register at www.Rockawaytc.org  

 

Shoreline Cleanup

On Saturday, March 12 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and Surfrider Foundation - NYC Chapter for a cleanup at Rockaway Community Park (Beach 58th and Almeda Ave) and help remove debris from this important shoreline! Community Cleanup

On Saturday, March 12 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., join RISE at 5803 Rockaway Beach Blvd for a community cleanup. With the weather finally starting to clear up, RISE is encouraging everyone to go outside and get their hands a little dirty. To ensure a safe and effective cleanup, RISE will be handing out gloves and bags to all participants. Community service hours available.

 

Rockaway WISH
Meet & Greet

On Sunday, March 13, from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m., stop by the second floor of the Belle Harbor Yacht Club on Beach 126th Street to meet the ladies of charitable organization WISH and consider joining or paying your dues if already a member.

 

Fitness Class at Rise

On Monday, March 14 at 11 a.m., join Ann Fosteris for a free fitness class at RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd). All levels welcome. Masks required.

 

An Intro to Climate Change

On Monday, March 14 at 2 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and explore about the past, present, and future of climate change in National Parks with a walk to Jamaica Bay’s former “breach” caused by Hurricane Sandy.  

 

Transportation Committee Meeting

On Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m., join CB14’s Transportation meeting on WebEx. Discuss NYC DOITT’s Link NYC Kiosk, plus transportation updates on the speed bumps, Seagirt Blvd Project and more. Thursday Chair Yoga

On Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., certified yoga instructor Ruth Graves is offering a free chair yoga class at RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd. All are welcome! From beginners to seasoned practitioners.
