Full Worm Moon

On Friday, March 18 at 7 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge and join a ranger to set off on a hike around the refuge. Hear about a traditional name for this moon and look for signs of the animal it represents. All ages welcome. This is an all-weather walk.  Space is limited, so register by calling (718) 318-4340.

 

March Garden Party

On Saturday, March 19 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to help wake the Pollinator Garden up from its winter slumber by pulling weeds and clearing debris. Time spent will count towards volunteer participation. Space will be limited, so register by calling (718) 318-4340.

 

Community Design Charette- B. 60th/ Wellness Way

On Saturday, March 19 from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., head to the RISE Center (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd)  for a community charette workshop to design a flexible outdoor multi-use space for local residents, businesses, musicians and artists alike, to further activate the Beach 60th St/"Wellness Way" pilot site. This workshop is for local residents and stakeholders to bring their ideas and local knowledge to the discussion.

 

Spring Equinox Walk

On Sunday, March 20, at 5:30 p.m., take a sunset walk around the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to welcome the spring. Observe the changing season in an urban National Park and experience the shift for yourself. All ages are welcome. This is an all-weather walk. Transportation Committee Meeting

On Tuesday, March 22 at 7 p.m., join CB14’s Transportation meeting on WebEx. Discuss NYC DOITT’s Link NYC Kiosk, plus transportation updates on the speed bumps, Seagirt Blvd Project and more. Community Cleanup

On Saturday, March 26 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy and Surfrider Foundation - NYC Chapter for a cleanup at Rockaway Community Park (Almeda Ave. and Beach 58th St) and help remove debris from this important shoreline! Fitness Class at Rise

On Mondays at 11 a.m., join Ann Fosteris for a free fitness class at RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd). All levels welcome. Masks required.

 

Thursday Chair Yoga

On Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., certified yoga instructor Ruth Graves is offering a free chair yoga class at RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd. All are welcome! From beginners to seasoned practitioners.

 

Saturday Night Lights Basketball

On Saturday nights from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., participate in this free sports training and programming for teens ages 11 to 18 at the Rockaway YMCA (207 Beach 73rd Street). Saturday Night Lights NYC offers free high-quality sports and fitness training for the youth.
