Movie Under the Stars:

The Wiz

On Thursday, June 30 at 8:30 p.m., head to the Beach 32nd boardwalk to enjoy The Wiz (Rated PG-13) outdoors. “A young kindergarten teacher finds herself in the Land of Oz, where she is greeted by Munchkins. As she journeys down the Yellow Brick Road in search of the Wiz, she encounters a scarecrow, a tin man and a cowardly lion." Bring a chair or blanket to enjoy.


Beach Campfire

On Friday, July 1 at 7 p.m., head to the Wise Clock in Riis Park to join a park ranger to sing songs, learn about the park, or to just enjoy the campfire, beach, and sunset. Bring an instrument, and play along. Bring a blanket or chair to sit on, and dress for the weather. Cancelled if raining. All are welcome!


Rockaway Market Street

On Saturday, July 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., head under the elevated A train track at Beach 60th for an outdoor market including vendors such as: Blacksmith’s Breads, Edgemere Farm, Horman’s Best Pickles, Mushroom Queens, Rockaway Soda, Saratoga Peanut Butter

Company, and more! Live music.


Jamaica Bay Rangers Choice: Human Pollution

On Saturday, July 2 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center and join a ranger as we aim to understand the impact human pollution has on the planet and our immediate surroundings, in order to promote stewardship, mindful consumption, and self-awareness for the well-being of our Earth. All ages. Dress for the weather conditions. Register by calling (718) 318-4340.


SketchRockaway! Jamaica Bay Wildlife

On Saturday, July 2 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to observe wildlife and nature, and sketch with the group. Bring sketch materials of your choice pen/pad/watercolors and meet us at the welcome cetner. Free and open to artists of all levels.


Riis Landing Kayaking

On Saturday, July 2 at 1 p.m., head to Riis Landing by the Marine Parkway Bridge to enjoy kayaking for beginners. Ages 6 and up with an adult. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that will not fall off, and bring water, sunscreen and a snack. Kayaks, personal floatation devices, paddles and instruction will be provided.


Free Classes

It’s summer semester!  The Peninsula Adult Leaning Center is offering GED (High School Equivalency), ESOL(English for Speakers of Other Languages), Adult Basic Education classes. Floyd Bennett Field Kayaking

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., head to Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn for a free kayaking program for beginners. Open to those ages 6 and up. Kayaks and life jackets provided. Bring snacks, water and sunscreen.


Rock N’ Clean Sundays

Every Sunday at 10 a.m., meet at the Adventure Park on Beach 101 and Shorefront for a free 30-minute workout and 30 minute beach cleanup.


Hatha Yoga with Soupy

On Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays starting May 9, head to Beach 102nd at 8:30 a.m. for yoga on the beach with Kevin Soupy Campbell.


Chair Yoga at the Temple

On Mondays and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., join Christine Walker for Chair Yoga at Ohab Zedek on Beach 135th and Rockaway Beach Blvd. Classes are on a donation basis. For more info, contact Christine at 516-503-4249
