Belle Harbor Cleanup

On Saturday, May 14 from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., meet at the beach wall at Beach 134th Street to join the Belle Harbor Property Owners Annual Beach cleanup. They’ll be cleaning the beach from 130th to 141st. Limited bags provided, volunteers recommended to bring their own. Community service hours available.

Native Neighbors Gallery Opening

On Friday, May 6 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy Office (114-04 Beach Channel Dr.) to celebrate the gallery opening of Native Neighbors, featuring botanical watercolor illustrations of Jamaica Bay and Rockaway’s native plants and their pollinators by Valentina Gallup Salerni. Earth Day Community Planting

On Friday, April 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to the RISE Center (58-03 Rockway Beach Blvd.)  for a spring planting to help make your community a better place! Transplant and plant native shoreline shrubs. This event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly and expect to get your hands dirty. All ages. Kids can receive community service hours.

BCAC Shamrock Shootout Signup

The 2022 BCAC Shamrock Shootout Season is on with plenty of basketball nights this summer. For boys and girls ages 4 to 15. $35 per child or $90 per family. Register at the Broad Channel Athletic Club (125 Cross Bay Blvd) on Saturday, April 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. or Wednesday, April 12 from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, April 16, Rockaway Track Club is hosting a spring half marathon and 5K. Check in at Cuisine by Claudette (143 Beach 116th Street) starting at 8 a.m. The runs begin at 9:30 a.m. on the boardwalk. Medals, t-shirts and smoothies for all participants. Spring Dune Planting

On Saturday, April 2, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., join RISE at Beach 42nd Street and the boardwalk for a dune planting event with grasses and shrubs. All ages welcome.
