Latest Summer Classic Update

Rain continues to make its impact on the Summer Classic, which experienced its fifth evening cancellation on Tuesday. Games will now take place Monday through Friday for the remainder of the season to make up the postponed contests. The playoff schedule will be formulated once the reschedule dates have been confirmed.

The renovation of the SFDS gym has been completed, and games will return there on Monday when everyone can see the beautiful restored floor. Many thanks to Fr. Kuroly and Jill Palisi for hosting Women’s Open and Girls High School games at St. Camillus Springman Hall this week. These groups will now return to St. Francis. Joe Featherston’s Special Olympics division will begin their season in the gym at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, July 30. Games between Team Will and Skippy’s Basketball Clinic will continue during the first three Thursdays in August.

Paul’s Bicycle Shop (4-0) continues to lead the Boys Grammar Middle division followed by Jets Towing and T. Moriarty & Son (both 4-1). J. Caizzo Plumbing & Heating (3-0) and The Meat Up Grill (2-0) are still undefeated in Boys Grammar senior as they now begin two nights of play each week. Creamer Street Realty remains undefeated (4-0) in Boys High School. New York Surf School and Bedford Funding each have one loss.

In Girls Grammar Senior, Brooklyn Window and Door and McManus-Leahy Basketball Camp share the lead at 3-0. There were no games for Girls High School last week, so standings are unchanged with Mullin Basketball Camp, Customer XR, and NF Beauty tied for first.

A&S at the Harbor has clinched at least the #2 seed in Division 1 of the Tim Klein Men’s Open with a 6-1 record. JG Electric is close behind at 4-1. Jamesons (5-0) continues on top of Division 2 with MLF in second at 5-1. Jamesons is also 5-0 in the Clare Droesch Women’s Open division. BigMamaStef is second at 4-1.

Semifinals for the Graybeards Young Guns and Legend divisions are tonight, July 23 at St. Camillus beginning at 6 p.m. The championships are next Thursday, July 30.
