Neponsit residents weren’t going to let now retired UPS deliveryman Sherrod Grant go without giving him his flowers, or at least an award for his service to the community.
At the Tuesday, May 19 Neponsit Property Owners Association meeting, Grant, who officially retired after a 35-year career, 25 of those spent delivering packages around Rockaway, was presented with an award acknowledging his dedication and commitment and wishing him a happy retirement.
Grant, his wife and children, came from their home in Staten Island to reunite with grateful Neponsit residents as he was bestowed the honor.
NPOA president Amanda Agoglia said, “The Neponsit Property Owners Association is honoring Sherrod for his many years of service to our community. By our calculations, we have figured you have delivered more than one million packages to grateful Neponsit families. We very much appreciate all of your hard work, dedication, and positivity that you have brought over the years. You’ve made a real difference, and you will truly be missed.”
