Obstacle or Bridge?

Dear Editor:

The rumor was true. Fr. Kuroly has returned to St. Camillus-St. Virgilius after his trip to South Korea in preparation for the World Youth Day in 2027. More than 500 youth will be attending from the Diocese of Brooklyn-Queens. Keep them in your prayers.

It was great to have Fr. Kuroly celebrating Mass with us again. Do I dare say that St. Camillus is starting to feel like home? You look around and see familiar faces as well as new, faces of people that have come back to St. Camillus. The music is inspiring, as well as the Liturgy and the Eucharist. The 11:30 a.m. Mass this Sunday was no different. We are really building a spiritual community. This is just the beginning. Let’s keep it up!

Fr. Kuroly posed this question today: Are we obstacles like Peter in the Gospel or bridges? Are we doing the best we can to believe and have faith; to be a living bridge that leads people to the Lord. Or are we the obstacle in how we speak or act which turns people away? Maybe we don’t realize how our actions, words or even thoughts affect people around us. As Christians, we need to keep working at doing better. We need to choose to be a bridge.
