Dear Editor:
Last month, you published my letter about police inaction due to illegal parking on our peninsula. And what? – can you ask. And nothing. Illegal parking is pretty successful, including in the 100th police precinct’s vicinity. Nobody cares about several banners—no parking, no standing, no stopping, etc. Illegal parking is successful during street cleaning time, next to cafes, stores, etc. Do we have the police? Who is enforcing the city laws?
I don’t know the answers to such rhetorical questions. Besides that, none of the police officials replied to such a publication. They just don’t care about city laws, about critical publications, about New-Yorkers’ well-being, etc.
Also, there was no reaction from our local politicians. Looks like they don’t care about their laws being not enforced. Looks like they wake up just when it’s time for re-election. Our City Councilwoman Ariola is not up for re-election, she is quiet. Our Assemblywoman Amato is not up for re-election, she is quiet. About our State Senator Sanders, I don’t know what to say; last time I heard from him was when he initiated the reparation process, that’s it.
What’s the sense of approving the local laws if they’re not enforced? What’s the sense of keeping the lawmakers if their laws are ignored anyway? What’s the sense of having the legislative bodies if their laws are ignored anyway?
And final question: what’s the sense of participating in the election process if laws are ignored anyway? It’s better to enjoy fishing time instead of wasting it on senseless elections.
