To coincide with the 2026 World Cup, the Rockaway Film Festival is screening some of their favorite football films at its outdoor Arverne Cinema. Rarely screened, tonight’s feature, “Stubby,” is an adorable and surreal comedy by trailblazing Swedish filmmaker, Bo Widerberg about a seven-year-old football prodigy recruited to play for Sweden’s national team in the 1974 World Cup qualifiers and becomes an overnight sensation.
