The nine-year journey is over! On Saturday, August 15, the Rockaway Ocean Club at the Riis Bathhouse will finally open to the public.
The Ocean Club’s courtyard will be activated with music, food, and drinks on the evenings of August 15 and 16 from 5 to 10 p.m. with a small cover charge. Saturday evening will be a bit more high-energy with Sunday evening being a more laid-back weekend wind down.
“I can’t begin to explain how exciting it is to finally be at this moment,” co-founder Ursula Damani said. “I am so grateful.”
The courtyard, along with the members’ pool and garden will open on August 21 from 9 a.m. – 10 p.m., Friday through Sunday, with expanded days in the works. The hotel and second floor member lounge are still on track to open for next season.
“The local communities, Belle Harbor and Neponsit, have been so good to us,” Damani said. “I want the Ocean Club to feel like an extension of their backyards.” The club received numerous applications after a New York Times feature was published in May, but it is still accepting applications from locals. Founding Member opportunities will expire at the end of October 2026.
