Father’s Day Half Marathon & 5K

On Saturday, June 20, Rockaway Track Club hosts its Father’s Day half marathon and 5K. Bib and shirt pickup and day-of registration starting at 6:30 a.m. at the Beach 94th Street Amphitheater. Races start at 8 a.m. Preregister at rockawaytc.org

On Saturday, June 20 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., head to Beach 90th Street to enjoy music, skate and surf contests, vendors and more.

 

America 250 Celebration

On Saturday, June 20 at 7 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater to enjoy live music by Beatles band Yesterday and Today, followed by a fireworks show on the beach at 9 p.m.

 

Jamaica Bay Guided Walk

On Sunday, June 21 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a park ranger-led program highlighting the nature and history of Jamaica Bay.

 

Father’s Fest

On Sunday, June 21 from 12 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., head to the Beach 17th Amphitheater to celebrate dad with games, food and good vibes.

 

A Taste of Natural Healing

On Monday, June 22 at 10 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Dragon’s Way Qigong instructor, Alexandra G. Taggart, leads a 30-minute class. The Four Energy Gates is a practice to awaken the body’s energy flow.

 

Native Plant Nursery Planting

On Monday, June 22 at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free Zumba class led by LaDeidre Smith from Rockaway YMCA. Enjoy an aerobic fitness workout that involves Latin-inspired dance.

 

Seaside Adult Center Open House

On Tuesday, June 23 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., head to the Seaside Older Adult Center (320 Beach 94th Street) for an open house. Meet the staff, enjoy meals, and try a fitness class. Bring ID.

 

Bayside Community Design Charette

On Wednesday, June 24 from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., residents of the east side of the peninsula are welcome to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to kick off the planning process of Rockaway Bayside Public Space. Give input on the needs for the area, which will be developed into a comprehensive plan.

 

Rockaway Cove Paddle

On Thursday, June 25 at 9:30 a.m., head to Riis Landing for a kayaking trip to Rockaway Point and back. Dress to get wet, wear shoes that won’t fall off. Kayaks, lifejackets and instruction provided. Call (347) 672 3210 to make a reservation.

 

Kayaking for Beginners

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Sea Plane Ramp for a free kayaking program for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. Dress to get wet. Kayaks, personal floatation devices and instruction provided.

On Tuesdays at 7 p.m., head to the Sorrentino Recreation Center (18-48 Cornaga Ave.) for a free body weight circuit training class with Edith.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head the Beach 60th boardwalk to join Gloria for Cardio Punch, a total body workout for all levels. Punch to the rhythms of motivating music.
