On Thursday, July 9 at around 6:30 p.m., line Rockaway Beach Blvd. from Beach 149th to Memorial Circle at Beach 120th Street as the Hope for the Warriors come to town for Rockaway Warrior Weekend.

 

Valé EcoLab Opening

On Friday, July 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., head to Valé EcoLab (141 Beach 56th St.), a community space with bilingual workshops, youth programs and artist collaborations, to have a tour, learn about programming, enjoy music and refreshments.

 

Timmy Klein Volleyball Tournament

On Saturday, July 11, starting at 8:45 a.m., head to Beach 121st Street to cheer on the teams playing in the fifth annual TK Volleyball Tournament.

 

Beachcombing with a Ranger

On Saturday, July 11 at 10:30 a.m., meet at the flagpole at Bay 9 in Riis Park to take a walk on the beach with a park ranger and together see what the shore has to offer!

 

Rockaway Refresh Beach Cleanup

On Friday, July 10 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to Beach 67th or Beach 98th St. and the boardwalk to join JBRPC for a beach cleanup. Sign a waiver at www.jbrpc.org/events

 

Broad Channel America 250 Parade

On Friday, July 10 at 7 p.m., head to 17th Road Park in Broad Channel, wear red, white and blue, grab a flag and maybe decorate a wagon, to parade down to the VFW, where there will be a band and celebration.

 

Summer Thrift Sale

On Saturday, July 11 at 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to First Congregational Church (320 Beach 94th St.) for a summer thrift sale. New and used items. Proceeds go to the church! Parking in lot.

 

Rockaway Refresh Beach Cleanup

On Monday, July 13 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 106th St. and the boardwalk to join JBRPC for a beach cleanup. Sign a waiver at www.jbrpc.org/events

 

Moth Night

On Monday, July 13 at 8:30 p.m., head to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to Join a ranger for an after-hours peek around the pollinator garden and visitor center to see some of Jamaica Bay’s incredible moth diversity! Long sleeves and pants are recommended. Feel free to bring flashlights or headlamps.

 

Much Ado About Nothing

From Thursday, July 16-Sunday, June 20 at 6:30 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater for Shakespeare on the Rocks’ free performance of “Much Ado About Nothing.”

 

Kayaking for Beginners

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Sea Plane Ramp for a free kayaking program for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. Dress to get wet. Kayaks, personal floatation devices and instruction provided.

 

Riis Park Boardwalk Pop-up

On Sundays at 1 p.m., head to Bay 9 in Riis Park to stop by NPS’ boardwalk table to get summer beach essentials, park information, and the chance to take part in any activities and programs.

 

Yoga/Human Movement

On Sundays and Wednesdays at 8:30 a.m., head to the beach at Beach 102nd Street to join Kevin Campbell for yoga. Call 347-804-2559 for more info.

 

Body Weight Circuit Training

On Tuesdays at 7 p.m., head to the Sorrentino Recreation Center (18-48 Cornaga Ave.) for a free body weight circuit training class with Edith.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head the Beach 60th boardwalk to join Gloria for Cardio Punch, a total body workout for all levels. Punch to the rhythms of motivating music.
