Do you remember when, before the Broad Channel Athletic Club (BCAC) built two manicured diamonds and a football field, St. Virgilius played baseball on a lumpy patch of grass behind the American Legion in Broad Channel?
In these throwback photos, circa 1990, an SFDS team traveled to Broad Channel to do battle in a CYO baseball game against St. Virgilius. They gathered down the right field line, sporting red stirrups, pre-game. Check out the vintage cars behind the Virgilius dugout during the game.
