Welcome to my fishing report from beachfront Rockaway Beach. My name is Timothy Moriarty. I’m a local resident who’s been surf fishing for many years.
Let’s get into it! Well, fluke are still around, snapper blues are too, baitfish bunker are spotty out front and small bait is also present. Saw a few Striped Bass around at dawn. Sharks are being caught at night off the beach. Please catch and release them. Cow nose rays are here too and should also be released.
The water is still warm, and it’s been sea weedy too. Another month and things will start to change. Fall will be here soon enough. Bait to use? I suggest gulp with bucktails, soft plastics, poppers, tins or SP minnows, my go to lure!
