The tight battle for first place in Rockaway Little League’s Minor Girls division was settled on Sunday when Walsh Properties won the final game of the regular season 9-2 over Belle Harbor & Neponsit Living. The victory earned Walsh the regular season title.
Rockaway Beach Pickleball & Golf had been the pacesetter for much of 2026. It appeared the June 9 face-off against Walsh would settle the race, but the teams tied 5-5. On Sunday morning, Rockaway W.I.S.H. opened the door for Walsh by edging Pickleball in a slugfest, 13-11. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for W.I.S.H. and solidified their position in third place. The first round of the playoffs was scheduled for this past Tuesday and Wednesday.
The other tight division at RLL is Pee Wee Seniors. Breezy Wine & Liquor and Jets Towing have been neck and neck all year long. Breezy moved percentage points ahead of the Jets with a 6-5 win over their archrivals on June 10. Last Saturday, the teams kept pace with each other via whitewash victories. The Jets beat Barista Station, 5-0. Breezy topped the Timothy Klein Foundation, 6-0. The pennant will be decided on Saturday when Breezy Fitness faces fourth-place Burn Fitness. Jets Towing has already finished the season with an 8-2 record.
There is no first-place drama in the Minor Boys division this year. Revived Residential has been in control since early May. The battle has been for second place. It ended in a tie between Belle Harbor Property Owners Association and Class Act Photo. BHPOA got the edge on Class Act last Wednesday with a tightly fought 9-8 victory. However, Class Act finished the season by upsetting Revived, 14-6, to regain the tie. The two teams were scheduled to face-off in the first round of the playoffs last night.
