Week 2 of the Tim Klein Mens Open League in the Summer Classic included a number of close, exciting games. The highlight was two wins by Callie’s, including a Thursday night win over JG Electric that says they are for real as they are now 4-0. Kennedy’s is also 4-0 after two more wins. JG’s first loss leaves them 3-1. A&S at the Harbor surprised Jameson’s and sits in fourth place at 2-2. Jameson’s, Harbor Light, and Cabana are 1-3, while Rockaway Beach Local still seeks its first victory.

In Division 2, the damaged basket on Court 3 caused the cancellation of two games Thursday night. Team Crate remains undefeated at 3-0. Conte Carpets are right behind at 3-1. Luv Cleaning is 2-1. Servpro and Tap That are 2-2. Boarders Surf Shop is 1-2, Coastal Real Estate 1-3, and Simple Tackle 0-3.

With four nights under their belt, the Men now settle into a Thursday night only schedule for the remainder of the season as the rest of the Summer Classic is now underway. Hopefully, the Court 3 basket can be repaired soon as there will need to be many schedule adjustments until then.

A few notes for everyone coming to the games at Fr. Grogan Memorial Schoolyard at St. Francis de Sales. Do not bring basketballs to the schoolyard. Any ball in the schoolyard at night is the property of the Summer Classic. There is no parking on the beach blocks or on Rockaway Beach Blvd. You will be ticketed if you park there. Also, do not block hydrants, driveways, or the entrances to the schoolyard. Respect our neighbors. Walk to the schoolyard as much as possible. If you bike, park your bike in the area closest to Beach 129th and Rockaway Beach Blvd. We look forward to seeing everyone at the 2024 Summer Classic.
