Year 10 of Thrilla Under the Stars

Year 10 of Thrilla Under the Stars

It was a fantastic night of fights under the stars on Friday, June 26. Thrilla in Camilla X was a success!

Held in the St. Camillus lot for its tenth year, Thrilla in Camilla began with performances by the FDNY Emerald Society Pipes and Drums band and the Connolly Sisters. The night included 12 bouts featuring FDNY Boxing’s top fighters in different weight categories. But as usual, the successful night doubled as a fundraiser for some notable charities.

This year, FDNY Boxing donated $50K to Tunnel To Towers, which brings them to a total of $425K donated to the organization just over the last three years. This year, FDNY Boxing also made a $5K donation each to The FDNY Foundation, NY Firefighters Foundation, Fire Family Transport Foundation, Fight for Firefighters Foundation, Friends of Firefighters Foundation and to the new Patrick Brady Foundation.

The crowd enjoyed food, drinks, fights, entertainment and even getting to meet and mingle with former professional heavyweight contender Gerry Cooney and professional middleweight contender John Duddy, who were both in attendance.

FDNY Boxing President Bobby McGuire said, “It was a great night. There were some terrific fights!”
